Silver Lake Sprints to take place Sat. May 6 and Two Rowers Accepted at US
Nationals
Laura Fisher of Holy Trinity and Ross Fairley of Port Dover have been
accepted to compete at the Scholastic Rowing Association of America Regatta
being held in Saratoga Springs New York in May. According to regatta
organizer Lindsay Brown, "The decision was not difficult. Laura and Ross
have excellent credentials."
The SRAA Regatta showcases elite high schools rowers drawn from across the
United States. Regions in the US are allocated only so many entries and a
limited number of entries are made available to rowers from outside the
United States.
Closer to home, the 8th annual Silver Lake Invitational High School Sprints
will be held on Silver Lake in Port Dover beginning at 8:45 am on Saturday
May 6th. To date, approximately 100 entries have been received from over 20
high schools from across southern Ontario. This regatta has become a marker
for the beginning of the competitive rowing season. Spectators are more than
welcome to experience the excitement of high school rowing on Saturday.
