SILVER LAKE ALUMNI MEDAL AT CANADIAN UNIVERSITY ROWING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Mike Veltri and Tyler Wilson of Simcoe won bronze at the Canadian University Rowing Championships held on Elk Lake in British Columbia this weekend.

Rowing in the Lightweight Men’s Double event for the University of Guelph, Veltri and Wilson captured bronze by narrowly beating Brock University who had won the Ontario Championships weeks earlier. Veltri and Wilson both rowed for the Silver Lake Rowing Club when at high school. Veltri attended Holy Trinity and Wilson attended Simcoe Composite. After the race, Wilson sent a text to Sue Fairley Head Coach of the Silver Lake Rowing Club saying “It was Silver Lake all the way!”

Jake Martens of Langton also competed at the Canadian University Rowing Championships in the Men’s Single event representing Brock University. Martens advanced to the final in the Men’s Single event but did not medal.
