3 LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL ROWERS PLACE IN TOP 10  AND 1 WINS  AT RUDERNKRIEG  ERGATTA 
 
Five  rowers from Holy Trinity, Simcoe Composite and Assumption College took part in the annual Rudernkrieg ergatta held in St Catharines over the weekend.  
 
Caleb McCleary of Assumption College won gold in the junior 165 pound high school mens event with a time of 6:49.8.  
 
Mike Veltri of Holy Trinity  placed 5th in the senior 165 pound high school mens event with a time of 6:53
 
Chaundra Manorome of Simcoe Composite was 6th in the senior womens event with a time of 7:41.
 
 Also attending and placing in the top 20 from Holy Trinity in the senior 165 pound mens event were Zac Azzopardi who was 13th in a time of 7:08 and John Veltri(not feeling well but still gave it a shot) who was 20th in a time of 7:23
 
Some Silver Lake team mates, high school and university and parents, gladly took  part (as runners or volunteers)  along with  the  75 local runners,  in the 2nd annual Frigid Five put on by Runners Den Sunday morning.
 
Attached is a photo of Caleb McCleary(on the right) with a fellow athlete from Welland, Aaron Mowbray, both who won their weight category in the junior event and will be good rivals once on the water.
