Holy Trinity Brings Home Silver from Mother’s Day Regatta!
Holy Trinity, Simcoe Composite and Port Dover Composite all took part in the annual Mothers Day regatta in St Catharines Sunday.
Holy Trinity had Mike Veltri and Zac Azzopardi in the senior lightweight mens pair final where they raced to a second place finish in a full field earning HT a silver medal for the boys to take to their moms for Mother’s Day.
Mike also raced in a 8km head race Saturday in St Catharines in the open lightweight single earning bronze. Simcoe Composite's Chaundra Manorome also raced Saturday in the 4km womens event earning 4th. Chaundra went on to race Sunday qualifying through to the final in the women's single earning 6th overall.
Kristina Frazer from Holy Trinity also raced Sunday in the senior women's single advancing to the finals and earning 5th. Also racing for Holy Trinity were John Veltri and Travis Belanger in the senior mens double placing 3rd in their heat just missing the finals and ranked 7th overall in their first year as seniors .
Port Dover Composite saw Marcus Snow race his first senior lightweight mens single 2km race earning 5th in his heat and 9th overall.
Chaundra Manorome and Mike Veltri head to Philadelphia Thursday through to Saturday to take part in the prestigious Stotesbury Cup regatta in their singles events. They then stop in Welland on the way home to join their team-mates racing in Welland at the High school invitational event there.
