Two Silver Medals at Mothers’ Day Regatta

 Local high school crews won silver and others advanced to the final at the Mothers’ Day Regatta at the St. Catharines Rowing Club on Sunday.

 Ross Fairley of Port Dover CS won silver after advancing to the final in the Senior Men’s 72kg Single event while Laura Fisher won silver after advancing to the final in the Senior Women’s Single event. Both were within a boat length of capturing gold.

 Coach Susan Fairley was particularly pleased the Junior Men’s Double of Dan Beaver and Liam Ardiel (from SCS) as well as the Junior Women’s Double of Kelsea Parker and Samy Fairley (from PDCS) advanced to the finals. “They rowed under terrible conditions and showed a lot of composure out there. They demonstrated to everyone our rowers - even our junior rowers - can be competitive on the rough water.”

• Senior Men’s Double (Terry Lovegrove, Robbie Puddy – narrowly missed qualifying with a third place finish in their heat.
• Senior Men’s 72 kg Cox Four (JJ Ferrier, Wilson Tyler, Nick Ryerse, Jeff Puddy and coxswain Shannon Page – 6^th in their heat)

Holy Trinity

• Junior Women’s Double (Kristi Van Passen, Chantelle LeMoine – 5^th in their heat)
• Junior Men’s Double (Mike Veltri, Adrian Miller – 6^th in their heat)
• Senior Men’s 72 kg Single (Tim Haviland – 4^th in his heat)
• Junior Men’s Cox Four (Kyle Jansen, Ian Edwards, Harrison Smith, Tim Rapai and coxswain Kailey Wall – 4^th in their heat)
• Senior Women’s Single (Kayla Horvat – 4^th in her heat)

Valley Heights

• Senior Men’s 72 kg Cox Four (Mohamad Kayed, Jeff Bergen, Ben Heinrichs, Marc Wall and coxswain Val Montrose – 4^th in their heat
• Senior Men’s Cox Four (Sandor Macasi, Geoffrey Anderson, Brett Norman Jake Martens and coxswain Emily Barnim – 3^rd  in their heat)
• Senior Women’s Cox Four (Karla Martens, Amy Barnim, Christine Atchison, Emily Main and coxswain Ricky Giesbrecht – 4^th in their heat)
