Local High School Students Medal at London Ergatta
Zac Azzopardi of Holy Trinity and Ben Auld of Simcoe Composite dominated the Senior Lightweight Men’s event at the London High School Ergatta Championships last weekend placing first and second respectively.
Azzopardi matched this personal best time set at the Canadian Indoor Rowing Championships two weeks ago while Auld shaved a half second off his personal best. According to Coach Sue Fairley “Zac and Ben can be confident of their personal best times when they attend the Ontario Indoor Rowing Championships in a couple of weeks. We’ll see if the competition there will help them PB one more time before the indoor rowing season ends.”
Garrett Buis of Holy Trinity placed second in the Junior Men’s Lightweight event knocking 9 seconds off his personal best time at his first "away" ergatta. Rowing at their first ergatta, Andrew Hoover and Frankie Martin-Dodds both from Holy Trinity also achieved personal best times.
Following racing, the London Rowing Club invited the Silver Lake Rowing Club athletes to train in their indoor rowing tank.
