Rowers Raise $15,000 for Heart Research

Over 100 adults participated in the second annual Row for Heart Regatta on Silver Lake on the weekend raising over $15,000 toward the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Adults have been learning to row over the course of eight training sessions that began the end of May. The regatta was everyone’s opportunity to show off what they had learned. The Castaways coached by Lene Dover came away with the fastest time of the day over 500 meters with a time of two minutes and ten seconds. According to Holly MacDonald from the Foundation, “We surpassed our fundraising goal and everyone enjoyed themselves.”

The Silver Lake Rowing Club was established in 1999 to promote the sport of rowing across Norfolk and Haldimand counties.
