Silver Lake Earns Three Gold in Rough Water
On a day that saw many crews capsize and others not able to row due to deteriorating conditions, the Silver Lake Rowing Club managed to earn three gold medals at the Central Ontario Regatta Association regatta held on Fanshawe Lake in London this weekend.
According to head coach Sue Fairley, “All crews had to row out of their comfort zone. Our Silver Lake crews demonstrated excellent boat handling skills throughout the day.” Eryk Taylor and Spencer Fraser teamed up in the under 17 men’s double and were the only crew to stay in their lane and on the race course enabling them to pass three crews in the final 500 meters to win their heat. Chaundra Manorome was the only under 19 women’s single competitor able to complete her race winning that event. In his fourth race of the day, Caleb McCleary won the under 17 men’s single event.
