Rowers get Gold at
US Nationals (Puddy-SCS) and at WOSSA London (Anderson/Fairley-PDCS)
Silver Lake high school rowers had another banner
weekend at Scholastic Nationals in Oak Ridge, TN and at the Western Ontario
Secondary Schools Association (WOSSA) regatta in London.
Robbie Puddy (SCS) traveled to Oak Ridge, TN to
compete in the senior mens single and came home with the gold. He won his
heat and final to reach the top of the podium in ideal conditions. "I was
happy to see the silver medalist from Stotesbury Cup there and to be able to
beat him at nationals" Robbie told his coach upon returning early Sunday
morning.
Keeping Robbie company at the top of the podium was
Hannah Anderson and Samy Fairley from PDCS when they won their heat
and final of the senior womens pair event at WOSSA Saturday.
Their PDCS team-mates, Marcus Snow and Scott
Fairley, also got on the podium after winning their heat then went on to
finals winning bronze in the junior mens double.
This is the third regatta this season where the whole
PDCS team has had a podium finish and the girls team has medalled at every
regatta.
And joining them was Ian Edwards (HT) who was 2nd
in his heat and also won bronze in the senior mens single. Ian has also
