Sutton Pond Residents in Simcoe Say “Save Silver Lake!”

All owners at one of the Mill Pond Estate condominium towers in Simcoe recently placed a Save Silver Lake sign in their windows to make clear their unanimous dissatisfaction with the loss of Sutton Pond.

At a recent public meeting, Carla Aitken, a condo owner, stated, “The loss of Sutton Pond is far from the success some have called it in the media. It’s a swamp – a tangled mess. We should have lobbied harder to ensure our interests were met. Don’t make the same mistake again!” To visibly show their support for Aitken’s statements, residents decided to place a Save Silver Lake sign in all of their condo windows overlooking what used to be Sutton Pond.

Save Silver Lake signs have been springing up throughout Norfolk County with approximately 500 signs having been sold at $10 each. Pat Hall, a Port Dover resident, conceived the idea of the Save Silver Lake signs and had initially ordered 100. However, the heavy demand for the signs led to a second order of 500 which have been selling at the Port Dover Board of Trade offices and Silver Lake Market.

Signs are also available by contacting Pat Hall (519-583-0180) or Jim Dover (519-426-5677)
