Silver Lake High schools crews bring home 5 medals from Mothers Day regatta!

 

  

Valley Heights, Holy Trinity, Simcoe Composite and Port Dover Composite all took part in the annual Mothers Day regatta in St Catharines Sunday.

All but two crews made it to the finals & two gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals were earned!

 

Valley Heights had a  senior mens pair (Brett Norman and Justine Wood) and a junior mens four ( Wade Berry, Brandon Norman, Matt Dedecker, Cody Parker and cox Tyler Hiebert) in the final earning 4th and 6th place respectively

 

Holy Trinity had Mike Veltri in a senior lightweight mens single place 5th, Zac Azzopardi and John Veltri in a junior boys double place third for bronze,  and Ian Edwards place third for HT's second  bronze in the senior open mens single in their  finals.

 

Simcoe Composite had Liam Ardiel place 6th in the senior lightweight mens single, Kelsea Parker and Chaundra Manorome place 5th in the womens double and Robbie Puddy and Terry Lovegrove place 2nd in the senior mens double. 

 

Port Dover Composite had another very successful regatta winning both the races they entered.

Marcus Snow and Scott Fairley won the junior mens double earning PD's first gold of the regatta.

Then Hannah Anderson and Samy Fairley rowed the senior womens lightweight pair to win PD's second gold.

 

Both Port Dover crews and the SCS doubles as well as Ian Edwards in the single from HT will be traveling to Philadelphia this Thursday to take part in The Stotesbury Cup regatta and return early Sunday morning to join the rest of the Norfolk schools in another high school  event in Welland.

 

Attached are pictures of the two winning PDCS crews, Mothers of the first place crews were invited to the finish dock to present medals to the winning crews. For the Men’s double, Bev Snow presented the medals and for the Ladies Pair Pam Anderson awarded the honour. Coach Fairley could not attend the medal presentations due to commitments to other crews.
